Tutorial Beginner's guide to modding with Vortex

If you've never modded a game before, Vortex from Nexus Mods is the easiest way to start. Here's how:

1. Create a free account on nexusmods.com
2. Download and install Vortex
3. Link it to your Nexus account (it'll prompt you)
4. Click the Games tab and find the game you want to mod
5. Browse mods on Nexus and click 'Mod Manager Download' - Vortex handles the rest
6. Enable mods in the Mods tab and deploy

Vortex handles conflicts automatically. When two mods change the same file it asks which one should win. Start simple with a few mods and build up from there.

Works with Skyrim, Fallout 4, Cyberpunk, Stardew Valley, Baldur's Gate 3, and hundreds more.

Good guide. One thing I'd add - always read the mod description page fully before installing. Some mods have specific installation steps or compatibility notes that Vortex can't handle automatically.

For anyone more advanced, Mod Organizer 2 is better for Bethesda games because it uses virtual file management. But for getting started, Vortex is the right call.
