The Brazilian captain destroyed Faze on the Nuke map with a series of incredible frags.
Liquid and Vitality confidently advanced to the upper-bracket semifinals of Group B by defeating
Faze and OG, respectively. The North American team, led by Gabriel "Fallen" Toledo, defeated
Marcelo "coldzera" David and company for the first time this year. Liquid started the match on
Mirage fantastically where they won seven rounds in a row at the very beginning of the game! Faze
didn't give up and showed character resulting in a five round win at the very end and a 7:8 score in
favor of Liquid at the break. The North Americans won the pistol round and the next 2 rounds,
allowing them to build an economy. Faze tried to respond, which was manifested by winning 3
rounds in which karrigan played the main role. Unfortunately this proved to be not enough, FalleN
continued his fantastic play which caused him to end the map in favor of his team with a 2.11 rating.
Meanwhile, the Vitality team featured Dan "apEX" Madesclaire after taking a short break. The
Frenchman showed fantastic form on the CT side of the Dust2 map, where his team went into the
second half with a score of 9-6. After the change of sides OG revived, they won 5 rounds in a row
and Vitality knew they had to change something in their game on the T side. They came back,
chained seven together rounds to take the map as Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, Richard "shox"
Papillon, and apEX combined for 69 frags. The Nuke map went very well for Vitality players from the
very beginning. Their game looked very good tactically and their accuracy was not disappointing.
They won the first half and led the game 14-10. At this point OG woke up their will to fight and won
5 rounds in a row which totally surprised French players. ZywOo stepped in with a collateral double
in the 30th round, which fueled the French team to take the map to overtime.
In overtime Vitality made no mistakes and secured the win.
