There are a whole lot of places where game lovers can get news concerning their favourite games. Do you rely only on forums and social media platforms for news on games, or is there a particular site where you get trending news on certain games or games in general?

I usually check a mix of places. Forums and social media are great for fan discussions, but I rely on sites like IGN or GameSpot for the latest trending news. It’s the best of both worlds. What about you?

I use social media platforms as a hub for trending game news. I seek verified and popular accounts because I want to avoid some fake news from accounts that are chasing clout.

I rely on a few RSS feeds — RPS for PC-specific coverage, Eurogamer for European perspective, and occasionally Ars Technica when there is something technical worth reading. Social media is useful for breaking news but the signal-to-noise ratio is poor. Forums like this are actually better for learning what people genuinely think of a game after launch, as opposed to review embargo week impressions.

Digital Foundry for anything technical — frame rate analysis, console comparisons, that sort of thing. It's one of the few outlets that are actually rigorous about it. RPS for the more opinionated long-form stuff, though it's drifted a bit from what it was. I've mostly stopped reading review scores at this point. Should have done it a decade ago.

Usually just PC Gamer and RPS for written stuff. Damo sends me stuff from Reddit occasionally but that's more memes than actual news. YouTube channels when something big drops and I want to see it in action rather than read about it. Don't follow anyone religiously to be honest.

PC gamer was top on my list for interesting news in the past. Never knew that they are still quite active. For everything pc gaming related news, that was the site that I got all from.

Yeah same here, PC Gamer used to be my go-to as well. Fell off it for a while but it’s still surprisingly active when you actually check back in.

I think these days I just end up getting bits from everywhere rather than one main site, but PC Gamer’s still solid for proper write-ups when something interesting comes out.

Social media sites have made it a bit easier. A couple of handles on places like Facebook, Twitter and even TikTok share gaming news for their audience. So, one can always grab one or two pieces of information about a game when having a nice time on social media platforms.

Rock Paper Shotgun for PC-specific coverage, and occasionally Eurogamer for a European perspective on releases. I have an RSS feed set up for a handful of sites — it is the only way I've found to actually keep up without spending an hour a day checking tabs. For strategy and simulation specifically, the Paradox forums and a couple of subreddits are more useful than most gaming press anyway. Reviews I mostly ignore until I've already decided to buy something.

Quick one before work. Managed to get a couple hours into Subnautica last night — finally making progress on the base. Ned kept trying to get my attention but I was too far in to stop.

Honestly mostly Reddit and a couple of Discord servers at this point. Some of the community ones give better patch and update info than the actual news sites do. For major releases I'll check IGN but I don't go out of my way for it.

Back from class, warehouse shift at 4am tomorrow so keeping it short tonight. Jumped on Apex for a bit with Jordan. Two wins, felt clean.
