Do you think the amount we are spending on gaming has gone down at the consumption in the industry is bottoming out?

What prompted me to ask this question was when I read this article: https://thred.com/tech/study-shows-gen-z-arent-paying-for-games-anymore/

I am not sure if its a credible news site even, but I feel that its true. This assumes importance especially when I see many of those around me playing with pirated copies of popular games.

I recently read a news where it said people, especially Gen Z, are spending less on games. I think that's because there are multiple options available for entertainment

Yeah, I have about this news, and I agree with your reasoning on why they might be spending less. However, I would also like to add that people's income hasn't improved compared to the rising expenses. That's why they are spending less on games.

I was mostly playing Mario games when I was a kid. Something like that is probably okay for younger audiences. But there are age limits on those games for a reason but at the same time it's up to the parents to decide what's suitable for their children just like with everything else.

I would say that because most are now looking at their spending before they jump into buying video games and looking for deals, they are very much so spending less when they can find those deals and jump on them.

I have always found it best to buy digitally and wait for sales; that way, I know I am spending less.

I think the problem is that the gaming companies these days charge outrageous prices for their in-app purchases. Personally, I am not a fan of spending my hard earned money on games that do not yield financial returns for me. But even for those who do, the prices are becoming too high.

So you are thinking in terms of GenZ being more conscious of the cost and budgeting compared to the previous generation?

The ground observations that I have in this matter is different because I see them as liberal spenders compared to the conservative budgeters which our ancestors used to be.
