Negative Publicity

I was reading through the evolution of Rockstar Games.

FYI - The gaming company that released GTA!

It is said that they deliberately created negative publicity in order to sensationalise the game. Hear that when it was released, it was once a 17+ game and even news shows started talking about it. Do you think its just woke theory or a hype created deliberately?

In my observation, negative publicity always work. People seem to be attracted towards negative publicity more than positive publicity. maybe negative publicity works better in arousing curiosity.
