Discussion What's one part of Read Dead Redemption 2 made you a fan?

Red Dead Redemption 2 still remains an open world game that I can rank in the top 3 of games that I've played in that niche. The attention to detail is a factor that made me like most parts of the game. I've played a couple of times and never regretted getting it six years ago. Which part of the game made you praise the game?

For me it was the moment Arthur starts writing in his journal — sketching things he's seen, jotting down observations about the people around him. It reframed him entirely. You realise the game is actually about a man trying to make sense of his own life, not just an outlaw doing outlaw things. I've played through it twice and I'm still finding dialogue I missed the first time. That kind of density is genuinely rare.

Third playthrough now and I still stop to look around. There's a stretch near the Flat Iron Lake late in the game where the light comes through the trees and honestly I just stood there for a minute. The hunting and fishing too — spent three hours one night just messing around near Clemens Point. Forgot I had quests to do.

For me it was the gang camp early on. You'd come back between missions and everyone just had stuff going on — Lenny arguing with someone, Pearson chopping away, Dutch sitting there looking troubled. I wasn't expecting that from a game about robbing trains. Damo thought I was mad for spending twenty minutes just walking around camp not doing anything.
