How do You Decide on What Titles to Play?

Every niw and then new games are out, some are sequela or remakes, so they are easier to pick where are entirely new, even from a new or indie developer, which makes difficult to choose. Do you usually check reviews before buying a game, or do you go by trailers and gameplay footage?

In the last couple of years, I have bought a few few new games, I am either buying remakes or sequels. The new titles that I bought were from big studies and big names. For instance, I bought Elden Ring because of George RR Martin.
