Game Remakes: Creative or Just Cash Grabs?

With remakes like Resident Evil 4 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, are developers giving fans fresh experiences or recycling old titles? Do you enjoy remakes for nostalgia, or do you think they stifle new ideas in gaming?

Some remakes make games better because when they remake games they create better graphics thus giving better game experience. However, some game remakes are clearly crash grabs.

I've played some cool and amazing remakes while there are others which are not that good. I guess that most devs should be sure that remaking a classic game is worth it before they go ahead to build one.
