Tips for beginners in Elden Ring

Just picked up Elden Ring and getting absolutely destroyed. I have never played a Souls game before so everything is new to me. Any tips for someone who has no idea what they are doing? I keep dying to the first major boss and I am not sure if I am underlevelled or just bad.

Biggest tip is do not rush the bosses. Explore the open world first and level up. Limgrave has loads of dungeons and camps you can clear for runes. Get your vigor to at least 20 before attempting Margit. Also the wiki on RG has some solid build guides if you want direction.

What Brad said. Also grab the spirit ashes early on, they make a massive difference in boss fights. The Jellyfish one is surprisingly good. And do not be ashamed to summon help, the game is hard by design.
