Most of the time, the only time that I have to play games is at night, and it is simply that I am always very busy during the day. There have been a couple of times when I slept off while playing a game at night because I was already tired when I returned from work. Have you had that experience where you slept off while playing any game?

Yeah mate, definitely been there 😂

You tell yourself you’ll just jump on for a quick session after work, then next thing you know you’re half asleep holding the controller. I’ve had a few times where I’ve actually nodded off mid-game and woken up to my character just stood there or running into a wall.

Night gaming hits different when you’re tired from the day, but it’s sometimes the only time you get. Not quite the same energy as back in the day, but still worth it.

What you usually playing when that happens?

I once slept off when I was playing Minecraft. That game was dawn addictive when it came out that it was the only game that I always thought about when I was at work.

So, there was a day that I returned quite exhausted, but nah! I had to play this game. The next minute, I was snoring deep in my sleep. Woke up around 1 am just to realise what has happened. I can't help but start laughing at what just happened.

Lol, I feel this so hard 😆 “Just one more block” turns into full-on nap mode. At least it’s a funny memory to laugh about later!

Yeah more than once lol. There's something about late night gaming where your body just gives up on you. Usually happens when I'm grinding something repetitive. Brain checks out before I even realize it.

Had a closing shift last night so I sat down around 11 with Elden Ring and that was apparently it. Woke up two hours later, controller in my lap. Derek found it hilarious. The game was not even paused -- I had been sitting dead on the ground the whole time. Honestly not my worst gaming-related embarrassment but it is up there.

It happens more than I would like to admit. The particular danger zone for me is anything with a slow build -- Crusader Kings 3 especially. I tell myself one more in-game year and then wake up an hour later with a war I did not start and a claimant I have never heard of. Worth noting: it is close to midnight here in Amsterdam and I am still reading forum threads. This is not going to end well.

Derek must have laughed so hard looking at what happened. You said that wasn't your worst gaming related experience, which one tops the list for you?

Fell asleep at the keyboard during a Dark Souls run a couple of years ago. Woke up to the death screen, no idea how long I'd been out. Sarah walked in, looked at me, looked at the screen, and said something I'd rather not repeat. Probably fair.

Sarah must have made a joke of the whole scenario, but man, sleeping odd while playing a dark souls series must be tough! Best bet is returning back to the saved part when you wake up because any progress you've made before sleeping off gets wiped off.

Mine's always after a 4am warehouse shift. Get home, eat something, sit down with Apex -- out. Jordan sends me clips of my character just standing there getting killed. Not my finest gaming moments.

Yeah, more than once. Had a late Valheim session with Damo and next thing I knew it was 3am and I'd woken up with my face on the keyboard. Damo reckons he didn't notice for about 15 minutes because he thought I'd just gone quiet.

When you woke up, did you like felt that it was wise to continue playing the game or not?

Closing shift last week, got home just after midnight. Sat down to do a quick Elden Ring run before bed. Woke up two hours later with the controller still in my hand and the game on the pause menu. Derek said he walked past and just left me there. Honestly fair call.

Worth noting, since it comes up fairly often: the trainer app and the game files are entirely separate processes. The trainer reads and writes game memory while the game is running. Nothing is written to disk. This is also why antivirus software occasionally flags it, which is a heuristic false positive rather than an actual detection.

Long week. Got home tonight, kids are sorted, just wanted to load something up and switch off for a bit. Sometimes that's all gaming needs to be.

Up at 4 for a warehouse shift so I'm only on for an hour or so tonight. Just grinding out one more ranked game with Jordan then I'm done.

Pushed a small update to the app today. Startup time on slower drives was taking longer than it should — fixed a blocking call on launch. Should feel noticeably faster.

Falls asleep in the armchair fairly regularly at this point. Sarah has started leaving a blanket by the sofa. The controller ends up face-down on the carpet every time and I have no memory of how it got there. Ellie finds the whole thing very entertaining.

You slept off while setting up the games accessories or what exactly?
