Yeah Valheim is the safe answer and probably the right one. Damo and I did a full playthrough last year so I was hoping for something a bit fresher. Might look at Pacific Drive actually -- seen it around but haven't pulled the trigger. Anyone tried it?

Solid list from Jake there. I'd swap Dark Souls 3 for Subnautica -- that game got me way harder than I expected. The isolation of it is something else. RDR2 and Witcher 3 are no-brainers, reckon they'd be on most people's list.

I think the issue is that most open worlds are big for the sake of being big. Give me a smaller, denser world with interesting stuff in every corner over a massive empty map any day.

Outer Wilds for free is ridiculous. One of the best games I've ever played. Anyone who hasn't tried it - grab this immediately.

For anyone more advanced, Mod Organizer 2 is better for Bethesda games because it uses virtual file management. But for getting started, Vortex is the right call.

Just want to say the site design is really clean. The dark theme is easy on the eyes and everything loads fast. A lot of gaming forums look dated but this feels modern. Only minor thing I'd suggest is maybe a notification sound option for when someone replies to your thread. Not a big deal though.
